A short commentary from R Craig on 'Political Correctness' and loss of humour. People of Newfoundland still have their humour, often making light of life, often based on true stories (somewhat). Where is our humour?
When Craig was in Newfoundland this summer, he was relaxing on porch having a drink when his cousin Jerome set off to liquor store on his bike for a bottle of Screech. When Jerome returned home he was covered in cuts and scrapes from head to foot. His explanation was that when he came out of the liquor store he considered how to protect the bottle if he were to fall off the bike on the way home. So he drank it right there. He said it was a good thing too because he was right, he had multiple falls fro the bike on the way home.
Announcements:.
- R Tom from Campbellford described an international project Campbellford Club is involved in to build temporary shelters using old sea containers in St. Martens. The youth when they turn 18 are no longer foster kids and are turned out, not yet ready necessarily to make their own way. So with the help of the Rotary Club of St. Martens, they are providing temporary shelter for the youth until they can get a job and strike out on their own. Wellington Rotary Club is partnering and Tom asked if Brighton would partner with a donation of $500.
