Happy Bucks: getting together with family, for the long weekend, beautiful day, thanks for the weather, 4 day weekend, pancakes special for Murray, always happy and nothing more to say, mom pulled through operation, she is a trooper, text from friend of 30 years ago and like old times, Friday breakfasts outside on patio, grand kids for the weekend, Janet's son Mike home and scotch will not go stale, happy holiday weekend, for Brighton by the Bay residents who support Rotary.

Rotary Minute: Shelter Box celebrating 20 years of service.
Our impact, testimonial:
Shelter Box provided Popeye with a Shelterkit and other essential items, like solar lights, to help him get back on his feet after his home was badly damaged following flooding and mudslides. "The water came in from both sides and we were surrounded. It filled the house. We watch as the water took everything I had away."
"I really like the lights, as I don't have regular electricity. I was able to build a shelter to live in. It took me six days to build, but I built it myself."

Celebration of Brighton Rotary 2020
Brighton Rotary Celebration

Past President Daniel presented the Ernie Everingham Award (Rotarian of the Year Award) to R Joyce.

Past President Daniel presented R Steve with Paul Harris Fellow pin + 5
President Joyce presented R Clay with a Paul Harris Fellow pin +2

President Joyce presented Past President Daniel with gavel commemorating his exemplary year as president - 2019 to 2020 (Daniel's previous Presidential Year was 2009 - 2010). Secretary just has to spell Danial right. Should have been a fine there.

R Liesje presented her idea of creating a Brighton Rotary You tube channel. Young people consume social media, getting news and content on line.

Liesje is proposing that she record snippets of Rotary meetings and events, to capture the fun and service we do. These would be edited and short little clips put on our own Rotary channel on line. She is thinking of using 3 cameras during our regular meetings. We would have to speak up, especially when we are on patio to overcome back ground noises.

She asked if we would be okay and comfortable with doing this. We are asked to think about it.

We may need a waiver for guests when they visit us.

This is a work in progress. Ideas and comments welcome.

Interclub BBQ

New idea for Club / District project. Brighton Rotary traditionally hosts an Interclub BBQ at Proctor Park every August. Rotary Clubs invited to come and fellowship, eat and drink and highlight is the karoke contest by Clubs for the 8 ball trophy. Plan is extend invitation to all clubs in the D7070 to prepare a short singing video from their club. Brighton Rotary will review and pick a winner for 2020. R Liesje has done something similar for a national business and suggested that we create rules / procedures for the videos etc and submissions. We could put them all together and put on line. Possible deadline the end of September for submissions.

Another work in progress. Give us your ideas!!
