Stories
Kate''s Journey to Better Health
R Mark introduced Christian Jaehn-Kreibaum. He was born in Germany in 1960 in West Berlin. He became a financial planner and moved to Canada in 1999. He is a member of Trenton Kiwanis and has a passion for public speaking.

Christian provided a disclaimer at the start, recommending everyone consult their doctor first.

His story began in 2007 when his then 14 year old daughter Kate came to dinner complaining that her wrists hurt. They thought a first it may be growing pains. But much more, and after a trip to Sick Kids she was diagnosed with Arthritis. One of several anti -immune diseases. First they gave her pills and medications but these made Kate sick, she had terrible reactions and a lot of anxiety. Thursday nights became 'needle' night.

Coming from Germany, Christian remembered that there were many household remedies. So he started to look for a solution across the province and beyond.

A few years ago, he met a women who had significantly improved health and she directed Christian to a natural path Dr. Jason Lee. Dr. Lee recommended changing diets. Christian brought Dr. Lee to Trenton to speak.

Book - The China Story. What you eat is more important than your DNA regarding your health.

He was further directed to a Dr. John McDougal. Dr. McDougal is not selling supplements, simple a change of diets.

Christian gave example of heart by-pass surgery that is very expensive, very invasive and only short term. Better results by changing the diet. He gave some statistics about the increased consumption over past 100 years of meat, sugar and dairy products.  His recommendation is that we should all eat healthier.

He recommends watching 'Forks over Knives'.

He says health doesn't come from prescriptions. We should eat real food, not too much, but more vegetables. Life style change is not easy. But as example he share his daughter Kate's story that she loves to dance, that she still has the underlying disease, but is able to manage it by what she eats.

Also in response to question, Christian briefly talked about the overall environmental benefit if we eat less meat. There were also testimonials from Rotarian's about eating and impact on their health.

R Mark thanked Christian and presented to him our apple. (Not recommended to eat that apple).
