Stories
Presquile Lanes Bowling Alley
Gary Sharpe, owner of Presquile Lanes Bowling Alley explained the Youth Bowling Program.

Presquile Lanes is the oldest running bowling centre in Ontario. It opened in 1946. Gary and his partner purchased the bowling alley in June 2000.

Gary has personally won some championships.

Youth Bowling Canada is for kids ages 3 to 20. There are 30,000 to 40,000 members across Canada. Everyone participates, no one sits on the bench. They have a coaching program that is very involved and Gary is a qualified coach.

Brighton has 35 kids this year. The program is very affordable (registration and weekly fees). Contributions and donations such as provided by Rotary greatly appreciated. These funds mainly help with tournaments but also subsidize some kids. The program features special events and an annual banquet. Gary does fundraising to offset costs and to assist some families.

Gary thanked Rotary for ongoing support. His thanks includes a gift certificate for an evening or afternoon of two hours of bowling party for the Rotary family for up to 36 people.
